Applied Physics Jobs in Mexico City, Mexico at Alignerr

Title: Applied Physics

Company: Alignerr

Location: Mexico City, Mexico

Applied Physics (AI Training)

About The Role

What if your expertise in quantum mechanics, electrodynamics, and thermodynamics could directly shape how AI understands the physical world? We're looking for PhD-level Applied Physicists to stress-test cutting-edge AI models — exposing the gaps in their physical reasoning and helping ensure they never violate the fundamental laws of the universe.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers and academics who want to apply their deep domain knowledge to one of the most consequential technology challenges of our time. No prior AI experience needed — just mastery of physics and the ability to think rigorously.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design Advanced Physics Problems — Craft complex, open-ended problems at PhD qualifying exam level, requiring multi-step logical reasoning, mathematical derivation, and deep physical intuition
  • Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step "golden responses" with flawless treatment of physical constants, unit conversions, and first-principles reasoning
  • Audit AI Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated simulations, derivations, and proofs for physical consistency; identify where models "hallucinate" physics that violates conservation laws, boundary conditions, or fundamental principles
  • Refine Model Behaviour — Provide structured, expert feedback that improves how AI models reason about physical systems — from classical mechanics to quantum phenomena

Who You Are

  • Hold a PhD (completed or near completion) in Applied Physics, Physics, Engineering Physics, or a closely related field
  • Have deep mastery across core physics pillars: Classical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, and Quantum Mechanics
  • Can explain complex physical phenomena and mathematical derivations in clear, structured, rigorous English
  • Possess an uncompromising eye for detail — units, scientific notation, dimensional analysis, and logical proof structure matter deeply to you
  • Work independently with precision and consistency
  • No prior AI or machine learning experience required

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, scientific dataset evaluation, or quality assurance workflows
  • Proficiency with MATLAB, COMSOL, Python (NumPy/SciPy), or similar computational tools
  • Background in research-level problem-setting, academic publishing, or technical writing
  • Familiarity with AI language models as an end user

Why Join Us

  • Work at the frontier of AI development alongside world-leading research labs
  • Fully remote and asynchronous — work on your own schedule, wherever you are
  • Apply your PhD-level expertise to high-impact problems that matter beyond academia
  • Freelance autonomy with meaningful, intellectually stimulating work
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
