The Middle School Art Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering engaging, standards based visual arts instruction that fosters creativity, self-expression, and artistic skill development in students. The teacher creates a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages
exploration of various art forms while supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state and district visual arts standards.
* Teach a variety of artistic techniques, media, and art history appropriate for middle
school students.
* Foster creativity, critical thinking, and appreciation for the arts.
* Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of all learners.
* Assess and evaluate student progress through projects, portfolios, and formative
assessments.
* Maintain an organized, safe, and engaging classroom and studio environment.
* Integrate cross-curricular connections where appropriate.
* Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school and district policies.
* Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress.
* Organize and display student artwork in classrooms, school exhibits, or community
events.
* Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and support staff to enhance instructional
practices.
* Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities.
