Arts & Culture Program Manager
Washington, DC | Full-Time | SEIU
What if your work could help workers feel seen, celebrated, and powerful?
SEIU, a union of 2 million workers across healthcare, property services, and the public sector, is looking for a creative, collaborative, movement-minded cultural organizer to bring art, music, storytelling, and public creativity into our campaigns and organizing.
This is not a traditional communications role.
We’re looking for someone who understands that culture moves people. Someone who can help turn rallies into experiences, actions into moments, and worker stories into something people can feel.
What You’ll Do
You’ll help shape and produce cultural projects that support organizing campaigns and deepen worker engagement across the country. That could include:
- producing art builds, performances, exhibits, or public activations
- building relationships with artists, musicians, designers, poets, filmmakers, and cultural organizations
- helping organizers and communicators use culture and storytelling more effectively in campaigns
- coordinating creative collaborations tied to political, organizing, and movement moments
- managing timelines, vendors, budgets, contracts, and production logistics
- identifying emerging artists and cultural voices rooted in working‑class communities
- documenting projects and helping us learn what resonates and why
You’ll work closely with organizers, storytellers, designers, and campaign teams across the union.
Who You Are
You are:
- deeply collaborative
- organized and able to manage multiple moving pieces
- excited by both big ideas and production details
- comfortable working with artists, organizers, and community partners
- grounded in racial justice and equity
- able to move between strategy and execution
You probably have:
- 3–4 years of experience in arts and culture, cultural organizing, creative production, movement work, or related fields
- experience producing events, activations, or creative campaigns
- experience managing partnerships, budgets, timelines, or vendors
- strong relationship-building and communication skills
Experience working with unions, advocacy organizations, or social justice campaigns is a plus, but not required.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $97,548.96 annually
Benefits include:
- employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage
- defined benefit pension plan
- generous paid time off
- mission-driven and collaborative work environment
This role is based in Washington, DC and requires some travel, evening, and weekend work tied to events and campaigns.
SEIU is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
