Role overview:
At Paper Boat, writing is not a support function. It is at the heart of how the brand connects with people. We are looking for someone who enjoys understanding brands as much as writing for them. The role involves uncovering insights, developing communication ideas and writing across formats, including brand films, campaigns, social media, packaging and product launches. You should be equally comfortable building a campaign from scratch, writing a film script, crafting product communication or refining a single line of copy. You will work closely with the Creative Head to build communication that is consistent with the brand while adapting to different products, audiences and objectives.
What will you do:
1. Understand the brand – Spend time understanding our brands, products, consumers and category. Develop communication that is rooted in genuine insight, not just creative execution.
2. Develop ideas – Identify opportunities for campaigns, content and brand storytelling. Contribute to creative thinking from the start, not just after a brief is written.
3. Creative communication across Brand films, Campaigns, Social media, Product launches, Packaging, Ad copy and internal communication – no two weeks will be the same.
4. Adapt across brands – Write across different brand personalities and communication objectives. Be equally comfortable with emotional storytelling, witty & contemporary social content and premium product communication.
5. Work closely with the Creative Head, designers and marketing team to develop ideas and bring them to life, while maintaining a high standard of craft.
What this role is not:
1. A social media copywriting role.
2. An execution-only writing role.
3. A role where every project comes with a ready brief.
4. A role limited to one format or one brand.
Experience:
1. 3 to 6 years in advertising, branding, content or creative writing.
2. A portfolio demonstrating strong thinking, writing and versatility across formats.
