The Role
The Business Intelligence Analyst is a technically-oriented individual contributor role that sits within Operations team. This person works side-by-side with our Senior Business Analyst to absorb the technical implementation and operational reporting workload – freeing up capacity for higher-leverage strategic and analytical work.
The right hire here is someone who can own the infrastructure layer: writing and maintaining SQL and dbt models, managing recurring reporting, QAing data pipelines, and handling low-to-mid complexity analysis independently. This is not a pure dashboard role, and it is not a pure data engineering role. It sits squarely in between – a technical generalist who is equally comfortable in a dev environment and a spreadsheet.
Success in this role means the Senior Business Analyst spends less time on context-switching and operational maintenance, and more time on strategic modeling, forecasting, and cross-functional analysis.

What You Will Do
This role is built around owning the work that keeps our analytical infrastructure reliable and our reporting systems accurate. The responsibilities below are where you will have the most direct impact from day one – and where strong performance opens the door to broader technical ownership over time.
Core Responsibilities
- Write and maintain SQL queries across operational data sources
- Debug data pipeline issues and QA data refresh outputs
- Validate joins and business logic to ensure data accuracy
- Own lower and mid-complexity modeling independently with minimal supervision
- Own recurring reporting cycles and ensure on-time, accurate delivery
- Develop and maintain operational dashboards and reporting – building net-new analysis where gaps exist and keeping existing systems accurate as the business evolves
- Manage spreadsheet-based workflows and data refresh processes
- Handle lower-complexity stakeholder data requests independently
- Maintain clear documentation of models, pipelines, and reporting logic
- Surface data quality issues proactively before they become downstream problems
- Contribute to a culture of technical reliability and continuous improvement
Beyond the core, this role also contributes to the following areas as you build context and technical depth:
Analytics Engineering and Data Infrastructure
- Build, document, and maintain dbt models for recurring analytical use cases
- Work in Git, VS Code, and standard dev workflows
- Grow into co-ownership of data infrastructure alongside the Senior Business Analyst
Exploratory and Ad Hoc Analysis
- Pull and structure datasets in support of senior-level analyses
- Validate trends and flag anomalies for review
- Conduct first-pass investigation work to support strategic decision-making
- Document findings clearly so insights are accessible and actionable

Required Qualifications
- 3-6 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data analysis, or a related technical role
- Strong SQL skills – you write queries independently and debug them confidently
- Experience with Snowflake or similar modern cloud data warehousing
- Experience with BI or reporting tools (Looker, Tableau, Metabase, or similar)
- Familiarity with dbt or a clear willingness and ability to learn it quickly
- Experience owning recurring reporting or operational data workflows
- Comfortable working in Git and standard development environments
- Strong attention to detail with a systems-oriented mindset
- Good written and verbal communication skills – you can explain data clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an agency, marketing, or professional services environment
- Hands-on dbt experience (building models, writing tests, managing dependencies)
- Exposure to operational analytics or capacity/utilization reporting
- Experience with Python for data manipulation or automation
- Familiarity with workflow or project management tools
- Experience contributing to data documentation or analytics engineering best practices
