Role Overview
The Organist serves as a musical leader in worship, supporting congregational singing and enhancing the worship experience through organ and/or keyboard music.
This role is both musical and ministry-focused, serving the congregation as a leader and participant in the life of the church.
Core Responsibilities
Provide organ/keyboard music for:
- Weekly Sunday worship services
- Special services and church events as needed
- Support the worship team, pastors, and liturgy through appropriate music selection and execution
- Maintain a high standard of musical excellence aligned with LCMS worship traditions
Participation & Membership
- Must be a member of Faith Lutheran Church
- Actively engaged in the life and ministry of the church
- Recognized as a minister of the Gospel through music
Scheduling & Availability
Sunday worship services are a high priority
Required availability for major church seasons:
- Advent & Christmas
- Lent
- Holy Week
- Easter
Time Off Policy
Up to 3 paid Sundays off per year
Additional expectations:
- Minimum 2 weeks’ notice to the Senior Pastor for absences
- Any additional Sundays off beyond the 3 allotted are the financial responsibility of the Organist (e.g., securing and compensating a qualified substitute)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience playing organ in a liturgical worship setting (LCMS or similar preferred)
- Ability to confidently lead and accompany congregational singing
- Familiarity with:
- Traditional hymnody
- Church liturgy and worship structure
- The liturgical church year
- Strong musical proficiency on organ and/or keyboard
- Ability to collaborate effectively with pastors, staff, and worship teams
- Strong communication, reliability, and organizational skills
Compensation
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Final compensation package is negotiable based on qualifications, experience, and scope of responsibilities.
