Job Description

J.D. Irving, Ltd. is seeking a creative and results‑oriented Communications Specialist to join our team and support strategic internal and external communications initiatives across the Woodlands division. Reporting to senior leadership, this role blends hands‑on content development with close collaboration across business units to ensure clear, consistent, and impactful messaging.

While experience in manufacturing, forestry, or industrial environments is considered an asset, we welcome candidates with proven communications experience from adjacent sectors who bring strong writing and storytelling skills, sound judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, operationally driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic storyteller, creating messages that inform, engage, and persuade across various platforms and channels.
  • Be a creative force to drive new communication ideas, strengthen bridges between the company and community, and proactively tell our story.
  • Support the planning, creation, and delivery of all communication and advertising initiatives within the Woodlands division, including social media, website, digital media, advertising, print publications, tours, events, trade shows, site signage, etc.
  • Grow social media followers and engagement for Irving Woodlands’ social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Linked In.
  • Manage day‑to‑day content creation, calendar, and community management.
  • Manage the maintenance, content updates, and audits for  to ensure the web site is optimized.
  • Support the creation and deployment of advertising campaigns and media buys that create impact and influence.
  • Source and write engaging content for social media, web, publications, and presentations, in accordance with the approved voice and brand standards.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers, videographers, photographers and creative partners to develop materials for digital, social, and print channels.
  • Maintain a dashboard of performance metrics for social media platforms, website, and ad buys (i.e. followers, engagement, reach, click through rates, etc.).
  • Have an audience‑centric mindset in crafting communications that drive awareness, favorability and trust.
  • Occasional travel throughout New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Maine.

Qualifications

  • University or College degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in communications roles.
  • Experience managing websites and social media platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.
  • High level of creativity.
  • Strong project management, multi‑tasking, and time‑management skills.
  • Proficient skills in copywriting and editing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to build positive relationships.
  • Digital competency in relevant communications/creative software tools.
  • Ability to cross into the United States to support US team, when required.
  • Social media photography, videography, and editing skills would be an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license.
