We are partnering with one of Sydney’s most innovative and energising Data Governance Manager, a leader known for fostering curiosity, encouraging growth and building positive momentum across their organisation. The Opportunity
In this role, you will help build organisational capability in the management of data throughout its lifecycle. You will support the uplift of governance practices, strengthen data quality and help create a culture where trusted information underpins decision-making.
Working closely with the Data Governance Manager, you will play a central role in enhancing governance frameworks, embedding better practices and guiding stakeholders as they develop greater confidence in managing and using data responsibly.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery and continuous improvement of the organisation’s data governance programme.
- Establish and monitor data quality measures, ensuring issues are surfaced and resolved
- Strengthen data literacy by guiding stakeholders, sharing practical advice and promoting ownership of data assets.
- Coordinate activities related to the data governance council and encourage accountability across business teams.
- Maintain and enhance the central inventory of corporate data assets, including metadata and classifications.
- Manage the data governance platform to support cataloguing, lineage, quality monitoring and compliance controls.
- Identify risks related to data handling and support the organisation in mitigating them
- Contribute positively to team processes, values and culture.
About You
You enjoy the balance of structured thinking, communication and problem-solving. You feel comfortable engaging with people across the organisation and translating technical concepts into clear language.
Essential experience:
- Experience contributing to or operating a data governance programme.
- Familiarity with metadata management and data governance tools (Azure Purview or Databricks Unity Catalog experience is beneficial but not required).
- Understanding of data governance frameworks, the data lifecycle and data privacy obligations
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and educate non-technical audiences.
- Confident analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Desirable experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field
- Exposure to data architecture
- Experience using SharePoint to manage business documentation
