Each year, WRC serves thousands of adults and children through free counseling, support groups, case management, community education, emergency food and clothing, emergency housing, a 24-hour crisis hotline, legal assistance, court advocacy, and sexual assault response services. Role Description The Director of Philanthropy is a full-time, on-site role located in Oceanside, CA, responsible for leading WRC’s fundraising strategy and cultivating a culture of philanthropy across the organization. This role oversees the development and implementation of comprehensive giving programs, including annual campaigns, major gifts, and planned giving initiatives. Day-to-day responsibilities include identifying and researching prospective donors, building and maintaining strong relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporate partners, and creating stewardship plans that ensure meaningful engagement and ongoing support. The Director of Philanthropy will collaborate with leadership and program staff to align fundraising priorities with organizational needs, prepare compelling proposals and impact reports, and manage fundraising events and campaigns. This position also leads the creation of systems, policies, and metrics to track fundraising performance and supports the Board and executive team in their philanthropic outreach.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in philanthropy and fundraising leadership, including experience developing and managing comprehensive giving programs.
- Proficiency in Planned Giving and related strategies to engage donors in legacy and long-term support.
- Experience in Annual Giving, including campaign planning, donor segmentation, and year-round engagement.
- Strong skills in Prospect Research, with the ability to identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential donors.
- Commitment to effective Stewardship, including donor relationship management, recognition, and impact reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling cases for support and present to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with donors, volunteers, board members, and community partners.
- Experience in nonprofit or social services settings, ideally in organizations serving survivors of violence or trauma.
- Strong organizational, project management, and data analysis skills, including
