Schedule: 40W M-F 8:00AM – 4:30PM M30, evenings and weekends as needed

Rate of Pay: $70,000 – $85,0000 depending on experience

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Divisional Secretary for Program, the Divisional Music Director (DMD) leads the development of music and worship arts across the Intermountain Division. This role focuses on strengthening local leadership, expanding high-quality music programming, and supporting corps with the resources, training, and guidance needed to build vibrant, mission-aligned music ministries.
The DMD must be an active, uniformed Salvationist committed to servant leadership, flexible scheduling (including evenings and weekends), extensive travel, and maintaining high standards of planning, administration, communication, and organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as an ex-officio member of all Divisional music-related committees (e.g., Music Committee, Music Camp Planning, Calendar Planning). When designated by The Divisional Commander, serve as committee chairperson or secretary.
- Maintain a comprehensive overview of all Divisional music activities and progress, including annual review of corps music groups and recommendations for Western Music Institute (WMI) and territorial groups.
- Manage departmental administration: correspondence, records, filing, and documentation.
- partner with the Program Department to encourage annual commissioning processes for eligible musicians and maintain current contact lists for musicians, leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Organize and maintain the Divisional Music Resource Library, including:
- Band and vocal music
- Drama resources
- Music camp curriculum and materials
- Solo/ensemble music
- Encore materials (timely distribution required)
- Accompaniment publications and recordings
- Fulfill additional administrative responsibilities, including:
- Participation in weekly Territorial Music Committee meetings via Zoom
- Distribution of THQ and DHQ music resources to corps
- Budget administration and expense submission
- Management of Women’s Auxiliary donation records
- Maintaining an accurate inventory of all divisional music and audio equipment
- Recruit and select instructional staff in collaboration with the DSP.
- Organize curriculum, schedules, manuals, and other camp materials.
- Create promotional materials and oversee ongoing communications.
- Coordinate special guests and Divisional staff visits.
- Chair the Music Camp Planning Committee to deliver an excellent program
- Provide resources, communication, and support to help Corps promote, publicize, and grow music and worship arts programs.
- Assist Corps and institutions in developing new or expanded music ministries.
- Support local officers in securing music materials and addressing program needs.
- Visit Corps regularly to mentor leaders, conduct rehearsals, and provide musical support for worship services, special events, and camps.
- Ensure regular visitation of all Corps and Outposts with Music & Creative Arts programs including but not limited to Sunday Worship Services and Midweek Music and Art Programs.
- Plan and deliver leadership seminars, workshops, and institutes at local, regional, Divisional, and camp levels.
- Identify potential leaders and involve them in leadership development opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Territorial Music Secretary on territorial standards and leadership initiatives.
- Conduct regional follow-up visits after Music Camp and Encore to support ongoing learning.
- Develop and implement a Divisional Music Leadership Strategy to grow leaders within Corps.
- Mentor 2-4 emerging local leaders, providing intentional developmental support.
- Provide AV support for DHQ and Divisional program events, and assist corps as needed.
- Oversee corps AV assessments and encourage excellence in audiovisual ministry standards.
- Lead the Front Range Band as a leadership development platform.
- Lead or appoint leadership for a Divisional Chorus with similar leadership goals.
- Coordinate special ensembles for key events (e.g., Christmas, United Way, Rotary, community outreach).
