Role Description The Experienced Baker is a full-time, on-site role based in Canada, working within a high-capacity production bakery environment. This role involves preparing, scaling, and mixing doughs, operating commercial baking equipment, and following standardized recipes and production schedules. The Experienced Baker will shape, proof, bake, and finish products while maintaining product quality, appearance, and consistency. Daily responsibilities include monitoring baking times and temperatures, completing cleaning and sanitation tasks, and adhering to food safety and workplace safety standards. The role also includes working closely with production and quality teams, reporting equipment or product issues promptly, and supporting continuous improvement in efficiency and waste reduction.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a baker in a commercial or industrial bakery environment, with strong knowledge of dough handling, proofing, and baking methods.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot commercial baking equipment (e.g., mixers, proofers, ovens, sheeters) safely and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail in following recipes, portioning ingredients, and maintaining product consistency and presentation.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards; commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move baking ingredients and trays, and work in a fast-paced production setting.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with reliability in attendance and adherence to production schedules.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by production demands.
- Formal baking or culinary training, or a combination of education and experience, is an asset; prior experience in high-volume or industrial baking is highly preferred.
