Founding Content Editor/Writer Jobs in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India at Consuma

Title: Founding Content Editor/Writer

Company: Consuma

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

Why this role exists

We have built an AI-powered consumer research platform that takes brands from brief to full report in minutes. We work with some of India's biggest consumer companies and fastest-moving D2C brands (Coca-Cola, Britannia, Foxtale) and partner with some of the largest agencies like WPP.

We're hiring our first Editor / Writer to own content end-toend. Someone who can take a proprietary data cut on Monday and ship a piece a CMO forwards to their boss on Sunday, and do that consistently, every issue, every week on social. You won't inherit a backlog of briefs or a content calendar. You'll define the voice and build the engine.

What You'll Actually Do

Own our fortnightly newsletter end-to-end

  • Write and edit the flagship fortnightly, plus the data briefs and shorter pieces around it. Idea to angle to draft to shipped issue, with your own hands
  • Hold the bar: every piece has to pass the forwardability test, lead with one proprietary anchor, carry a named idea a reader can repeat, and be honest about method. If it wouldn't get forwarded in a private DM, it doesn't ship
  • Own and evolve the house voice. You set how we sound and you defend it

Build the content-as-distribution engine

  • Atomise every issue into LinkedIn posts, carousels, and WhatsApp-forwardable cuts. Build the flywheel between the feed and the publication
  • Run founder-led content: extract Abhilash's and the team's raw point of view from calls and voice memos and shape it into published work in their voice, not a press release
  • Grow the list and own the numbers that matter: subscribers, forwards, the pieces that travel. If something lands, you know why and you do more of it

Turn proprietary research into points of view

  • Mine our data (category social signal nobody else can see) for the story no one else can tell. The data is your unfair advantage
  • Sit with the research and product teams, pull the cut, and turn it into a take. Be the connective tissue between what the platform knows and what the market reads
  • Feed signal the other way too: what readers react to is a tell for what the product should surface

Who We Think This is For

2 to 5 years writing and editing where the writing was the moat, not a checkbox. You're likely coming from:

  • A newsroom, magazine, or a real publication, where you shipped under your own byline
  • A newsletter or creator practice you ran yourself, write-grow-sell, not just write
  • A B2B SaaS or research company that published original, data-led content people actually shared
  • An editorial lead role at an agency or media-led brand where you owned voice and standards

You probably:

  • Can write a forwardable point of view, not a summary. You have a portfolio of pieces that travelled, and you can point to the one that did
  • Edit ruthlessly, on your own work first. You'd rather ship one tight piece than three soft ones. Treat finishing as a virtue
  • Are opinionated about voice and can hold a house style across writers and surfaces
  • Use AI as a drafting accelerant and a research aid, with a clear, first-principles view of where it helps and where it flattens a voice. You are the editor, not the prompt
  • Are data-curious. A surprising chart makes you want to write, not look away
  • Get excited about being the first editorial hire inside an AI-native research company and building a media property from zero

Non-negotiable:

  • Taste and voice
  • Speed and finishing

This role is probably not for you if:

  • You're an SEO-volume content marketer who needs a keyword brief and a calendar handed to you
  • You're more comfortable shaping other people's words than putting a sharp opinion under your own name
  • You think in quarterly content plans rather than weekly shipping

Compensation

We pay competitively against the Indian editorial and content market for this experience level and offer meaningful ESOPs as an early (and first) editorial hire at our stage.
