Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Gemstone Assorter role based in Jaipur. The Gemstone Assorter will be responsible for examining, sorting, and grading gemstones according to size, shape, color, clarity, and overall quality standards. Daily tasks include using tools and magnification to inspect stones, separating stones into accurate lots, labeling and recording details, and preparing stones for further processing or dispatch. The role also involves following standardized quality control procedures, maintaining cleanliness and organization at the workstation, and collaborating with supervisors and colleagues to meet production and quality targets. The Gemstone Assorter is expected to handle gemstones carefully, follow safety and handling guidelines, and support inventory checks and documentation as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and visual accuracy for identifying differences in color, clarity, cut, and size of gemstones.
- Basic understanding of gemstone types and properties, or willingness to learn through on-the-job training.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures, quality guidelines, and production targets consistently.
- Good hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills for handling small stones safely and precisely.
- Basic record-keeping skills and comfort working with labels, counts, and simple documentation or spreadsheets.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a production or workshop setting.
- Previous experience in gemstone assorting, jewelry manufacturing, or related fields is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Minimum high school education or equivalent; additional training in gems and jewelry or gemology is a plus.
- Willingness to work on-site in Jaipur and maintain punctuality, reliability, and professional conduct.
