Head of Product Jobs in United Kingdom at Giant Group
Title: Head of Product
Company: Giant Group
Location: United Kingdom
Head of Product
📍 UK, remote first (preference for London or Manchester)
💰 £75,000+ depending on experience
🕐 Hours: 37 hrs/week, flexible, we care about output, not when you’re online
📊 Reporting to: Group Chief Executive Officer
TL;DR
The role: Giant Group’s first-ever Head of Product. You won’t inherit a product function, you’ll build one. Processes, ways of working, tooling, roadmap, team: you’ll build it, and you’ll help our engineering team fall in love with how great products get made, then you’ll scale it.
Who you are: An experienced product leader/manager who has done this before, built things from scratch, built and led a product teams, and turned messy, complex systems into something simple and genuinely loved. Hands-on enough to walk the walk today; strategic enough to lead as the function grows.
What we’re looking for: 8+ years in product, strong B2B credentials, a portfolio that makes the complex simple, real people-leadership experience, deep UX/UI skills and craft, a love of documentation that borders on obsessive, and a genuine, practical excitement about AI.
👋 Who We Are
Giant Group is a workforce management business on a mission to make work just work.
We help recruitment agencies, enterprise and SME businesses, and the contractors and workers at the heart of it all. Handling everything from pre-employment screening and payroll, to invoice financing, back-office management, and compliant employment solutions across the world.
Our purpose is simple to say and hard to do: to grow a world that works. We do the heavy lifting so the people we serve don’t have to. We make the big stuff feel small. Because offing simplicity isn’t lazy and it certainly isn’t easy, easy is the hardest thing in the world to get right, and getting it right is the whole point.
Everything we build comes down to one word: assurance.
We’ve been doing this for over 30 years. We’re completely self-funded, no investors, no private equity, nobody to answer to but our people. We’re recognised as one of the UK’s best workforce management providers, and we’re now expanding in the USA, which makes this a genuinely exciting moment to join.
🚀 The Role
This is the first dedicated product hire for Giant Group. That’s not a typo, and it’s the most important sentence in this job description.
Our product is genuinely brilliant and helps an enormous number of people every single day. But it’s time for a step-change in how we shape, build, and present it to the world.
You’ll define how product decisions get made, build the processes and tooling from scratch, set the roadmap, and bring engineering, marketing, and sales together around what genuinely matters to the people we serve.
This is a hands-on, build-it-yourself role to begin with, you’ll be the whole department on day one with lots of support from the wider teams. As the function matures, the roadmap sharpens, the team grows, you’ll move further into strategy and ideation.
🛠️ What You’ll Own & Build
- Build the product function. Establish how product works at Giant from a blank page
- Partner closely with our engineering leadership to shape the roadmap and define how product and engineering work together.
- Own the client and worker experience end to end. Take responsibility for every journey across Giant, onboarding, timesheets, payroll visibility, funding, reporting, and more. Find the friction, remove it, and design with deep empathy for the workers whose livelihoods depend on us getting it right.
- Build the roadmap and the design system. Get hands-on in Figma, Claude, PostHog, and prototype, test, and ship, then evolve into setting direction as you hire designers and product teammates around you.
- Build the team, own the budget. Understand what the business genuinely needs, make the case for it, and own, define, and justify your department’s budget.
- Tie product to commercial outcomes. You’ll be product-first and people/design-led, but always with one eye on the commercial picture. Work closely with sales and marketing.
- Document everything, generously. Help shape our new custom project-management system being built inside Twenty CRM, and write the SOPs, playbooks, flows, and how-to docs .
- Stay close to the people we serve. Interview them, survey them, run group chats, gather the friction and the inspiration.
✅ What We’re Looking For
Must have
- 8+ years in product, with demonstrable senior-level responsibility and a clear portfolio of work.
- Strong B2B credentials. This is a relationship-led, highly governed, compliance-heavy industry with long, complex, sometimes unpredictable sales cycles.
- Proven, hands-on “from scratch” experience, building design systems, architecture, tech infrastructure, and teams from a blank page, and negotiating it all into place.
- Proven experience leading a product team specifically.
- Clear UX/UI skills with a strong, deep, hands-on understanding of Figma.
- A portfolio that clearly shows how you make the complex simple, and are people focused
- Strong commercial awareness, a real understanding of how product drives revenue, retention, and growth.
- Practical, day-to-day fluency with AI tools, you use them as a genuine part of how you work, not as a box ticking exercise for LinkedIn.
- A love of documentation and process.
Strong advantages
- Experience in a highly regulated, operationally complex, or financial environment.
- Familiarity with our stack: Twenty CRM, PostHog, n8n, Webflow, Figma, and on-prem environments, plus the integration realities that come with self-built, on-premise tooling.
- Enough technical fluency to read, review, and engage confidently with the engineering decisions being made around you.
🙅 This Role Probably Isn’t For You If…
We’d rather be upfront, it saves everyone time, and we mean all of this kindly:
- This would be your first product role. We’re genuinely open to a brilliant senior PM or product lead stepping up into their first Head of Product position, but you do need real product experience behind you.
- You’ve only ever worked inside a beautifully defined, mature, heavily structured product function.
- You think getting an AI tool to produce something means the job is done.
- You’d rather stay behind your desk than get out and talk to the people we serve.
- You need several layers of sign-off before you’ll commit to a decision.
- Writing things down, processes, documentation, research, feels like a chore to you rather than part of the craft.
- Your background is purely consumer, lifestyle, or e-commerce, with little feel for long, complex, regulated B2B.
- You’d rather perfect a strategy deck than ship something real and learn from it.
💰 What We Offer
- Remote-first, your way. Work from wherever you do your best thinking. Use our London office in Holborn whenever you like and other hubs around the UK.
- Flexible hours. We care about output, not when you’re online.
- 23 days’ holiday, increasing to 26 days’ for every complete year of service, plus UK bank holidays, plus your birthday off, and with the option to buy up to 10 additional days a year.
- Workplace pension.
- A work MacBook, set up to help you do your best work.
- Giant Advantage perks (after probation), supermarket and retail discounts, salary-sacrifice schemes including electric cars, Nuffield gym discounts, and more.
- Quarterly leadership meetups in London, a day or two together, fully paid for, with a social afterwards.
- Learning & development support, with a budget you’ll help shape as you build out and own your department.
- Long-service rewards and referral bonuses.
- Real ownership from day one. No bureaucracy, no hand-holding, no waiting in line, and the backing and stability of a 30-year, independent business behind you.
