About The Role

Joining in our first HR role, you’ll work very closely with our founder, Andrew Browning, to accelerate the business forward and craft our vision for the HR function.

You will be responsible for HR operations including employee engagement, performance management, payroll administration, and recruitment, while ensuring compliance with Indian employment law. As with any early-stage business though, you’ll be required to get involved in a wide range of areas within the business beyond your core responsibilities.

With this wide scope of responsibilities, you’ll have the chance to learn a huge breadth of skills and gain exposure to how a fast-scaling startup is built.

With this early-stage experience and in-depth knowledge of the business, you’ll be in a great position to grow with the business into a senior position within the HR function. All dependent on your performance of course!

Responsibilities – What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead employee engagement initiatives and maintain open communication channels.
  • Manage employee terminations and grievances with professionalism and empathy.
  • Oversee performance management and probation reviews.
  • Respond to employee queries and provide HR support.
  • Handle payroll administration, including collecting information and preparing reports.
  • Prepare, review, and manage employment contracts, company policies, and other documents.
  • Support our recruitment team with the recruitment processes, including sourcing, screening, and onboarding new hires.
  • Support employee onboarding, ensuring a seamless experience for new team members.
  • Build and manage key relationships with institutional partners such as universities and colleges.
  • Build our employer brand awareness and presence through events and networking.
  • Continue to refine our HR processes and best practices.
  • Report on and manage HR performance.
  • Action items from client calls and performance reviews.
  • Create SOPs for new and existing processes.
  • Continually optimise existing processes.
  • Design and build new features to the hotsourced platform via no-code tools.

  • Minimum 4 years experience in HR or operations
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a startup environment (preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working for a UK, US or other Western business (preferred)
  • HR accreditation (preferred).

Work Schedule

As we are UK-based, you will be required to work UK daytime hours:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 08:00am – 17:00pm UK Time
  • 09:00am – 18:00pm SAST

Pay & Benefits – What we offer:

  • Annual salary of R300,000-420,000
