Position:
In-House Patternmaker
Bombshell is seeking an experienced in-house Patternmaker to play a critical role in developing performance-driven athletic apparel. This role requires a deep understanding of technical construction, stretch fabrics, and body-contouring fit specifically to active wear. You will work closely with Tech Design, Design, Product Development (PD), and Production to translate creative concepts into production-ready patterns that meet Bombshell’s standards for precision, performance, and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and develop first patterns for athletic and performance apparel, with a strong focus on fit, function, and construction integrity
- Interpret design sketches and tech packs into accurate, production-ready patterns
- Lead fittings alongside Tech Design, Design, and PD, making real-time adjustments to ensure optimal fit, support, and movement performance
- Engineer garments that enhance and sculpt the body, considering stretch, recovery, and fabric behavior
- Collaborate closely with Tech Design, Design, PD, and Production to ensure alignment from concept through bulk production
- Develop and maintain pattern blocks specific to Bombshell’s fit standards and categories
- Ensure consistency in sizing, grading, and construction across styles
- Troubleshoot and resolve fit and construction issues during development and pre-production stages
- Support sample development and iterate quickly in a fast-paced, in-house environment
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in pattern making, preferably in active wear or performance apparel
- Strong expertise in stretch fabrics, compression garments, and technical construction
- Advanced knowledge of garment fit, balance, and body contouring techniques
- Proficiency in pattern making software (e.g., Gerber, Optitex, or similar) plus strong manual skills
- Experience leading fittings and communicating technical adjustments clearly
- Deep understanding of grading for performance wear
- Highly detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership over final product quality
- Ability to work in-house and collaboratively in a fast-moving, hands‑on environment
