Role Description
This full-time Saddlestitch Leather Artisan role at CARLYLES is a hybrid position based in Paris, with the flexibility to perform some tasks from home. The Saddlestitch Leather Artisan will be responsible for preparing, cutting, shaping, and assembling leather components for luxury goods, following detailed specifications and quality standards. Daily activities include inspecting raw materials, selecting appropriate leather, performing precise hand and machine stitching, and finishing products through edging, polishing, and conditioning. The role also involves maintaining tools and workstations, documenting production steps, and collaborating with design and production teams to refine techniques and resolve technical issues. The Leatherworker will participate in ongoing training, contribute ideas to improve processes, and ensure all work meets strict accuracy, safety, and quality requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong practical skills in leatherwork and leather handling, including cutting, shaping, stitching, and finishing.
- Experience with preparation of materials and components, including measuring, pattern layout, and tool setup.
- Demonstrated high level of accuracy and attention to detail in craftsmanship and quality control.
- Ability to engage in training, learn new techniques, and apply feedback to improve performance.
- Prior experience in luxury goods, fashion, or artisanal craft workshops is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Paris in a hybrid arrangement and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Good manual dexterity, stamina for workshop tasks, and adherence to safety and ergonomic best practices.
- Basic organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple orders and meet deadlines.
