About the Role:
Hiring: Technical Program Manager – Multilingual Speech Data & Annotation Programs
Location: Remote (U.S.)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Ascendion is seeking an experiencedTechnical Program Managerto support a leading AI/cloud client developing next-generation multilingual speech recognition technologies. This role is ideal for someone with expertise inlinguistics, speech data annotation, AI/ML data operations, and technical program management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end multilingual speech data annotation, transcription, and evaluation programs.
- Design annotation workflows, quality metrics, and evaluation pipelines.
- Create localization and transcription guidelines across multiple languages.
- Recruit, onboard, and manage multilingual linguist annotators.
- Partner with research, engineering, product, and client stakeholders to deliver high-quality speech datasets.
- Manage timelines, risks, budgets, and multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Review speech quality analyses, including SNR, Voice Activity Detection (VAD), and acoustic quality outputs.
- Drive continuous improvements in annotation quality and operational processes.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics(PhD preferred).
- Experience managing large-scale multilingual language data or speech annotation programs.
- Strong knowledge of ASR, speech transcription, localization, NLP, or AI data annotation.
- Experience managing annotators across multiple languages and regions.
- Hands-on Python (Pandas/NumPy) for language data processing.
- Excellent stakeholder management, technical writing, and program management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR)
- Code Switching & Inverse Text Normalization (ITN)
- Voice Activity Detection (VAD) & Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)
- AWS S3, SageMaker Ground Truth, or similar annotation platforms
- Inter-Annotator Agreement (IAA), Cohen's Kappa, Krippendorff's Alpha
- Low-resource languages, dialects, and speech data collection
Location: 100% Remote
Salary Range: The salary for this position is between $80,000 – $90,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
