Mechanical Engineering Expert – AI Content Specialist Jobs in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at Alignerr

Title: Mechanical Engineering Expert – AI Content Specialist

Company: Alignerr

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Mechanical Engineering Expert (AI Training)

About The Role

We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need mechanical engineers to make it happen. Your deep domain knowledge will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex engineering problems.

This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering and artificial intelligence, applying your expertise in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and beyond — all on your own schedule, fully remote.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design Complex Engineering Problems — Craft advanced, multi-step problems across domains like FEA (Finite Element Analysis), heat transfer, kinematics, and material science to rigorously test AI performance
  • Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop detailed, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as gold-standard benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation
  • Audit AI Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO)
  • Sharpen AI Thinking — Identify logical errors in AI reasoning — such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or flawed kinematic assumptions — and provide structured feedback to improve model outputs

Who You Are

  • Holds or is pursuing a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Strong foundational expertise in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
  • Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical concepts clearly and precisely in writing
  • Meticulous attention to detail — comfortable checking mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
  • No prior AI experience required — we'll get you up to speed

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, data quality evaluation, or technical content review
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
  • Familiarity with AI or large language model (LLM) workflows

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labs and AI teams
  • Fully remote and async — work on your own schedule, wherever you are
  • Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and collaboration with a global expert community
  • Meaningful impact — your engineering knowledge directly improves how AI reasons about the physical world
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
