Key Responsibilities
News Gathering & Reporting
- Research, write, and edit breaking news and original stories with speed and precision, ensuring factual accuracy and editorial integrity.
- Monitor real-time news sources, including press releases, wire services, social media, and public records, to identify timely and relevant stories.
- Conduct interviews with key sources, experts, and eyewitnesses to gather firsthand, verifiable information.
- Fact-check and verify all details (names, dates, statistics, quotes) before publication to prevent errors and misreporting.
Writing & Editing For Digital Engagement
- Craft compelling headlines and ledes that capture attention while maintaining journalistic integrity.
- Optimize articles for SEO (keyword placement, meta descriptions) without compromising readability or accuracy.
- Adapt writing style for different formats—breaking news (straightforward, inverted pyramid), features (narrative-driven), and explainers (simplified for clarity).
- Collaborate with editors to refine story angles, structure, and tone for maximum impact.
Editorial Collaboration & Strategy
- Work closely with the social media team to ensure articles are effectively promoted across platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Pitch original story ideas based on trending topics, data trends, or underreported issues.
- Uphold AP Style (or in-house style guide) and ensure consistency in grammar, tone, and formatting.
- Assist in editorial meetings, providing insights on emerging news cycles and audience engagement trends.
Multimedia & Digital Storytelling (Preferred Skills)
- Enhance articles with visuals (photo selection, basic editing) or embedded multimedia (videos, podcasts, infographics).
- Experiment with interactive storytelling (data visualizations, Q&A formats) to boost reader engagement
Qualifications & Skills)
- 3+ years of experience in digital journalism, news writing, or reporting, with a portfolio showcasing breaking news coverage and feature writing.
- Strong news judgment—able to identify high-impact stories and angles that resonate with audiences.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills—concise, engaging, and error-free under tight deadlines.
- Rigorous fact-checking discipline—committed to accuracy, fairness, and ethical journalism.

Technical Proficiency
