The Pre-Production I Associate plays a critical role in supporting L.A.B. Golf's manufacturing operations by preparing and processing golf club components through shafting, gripping, cutting, material preparation, and other pre-production activities. This entry-level position is responsible for accurately following build sheets, work instructions, and quality standards to ensure products are assembled to specification and prepared for final production. The Pre-Production I Associate utilizes hand tools, production equipment, and established manufacturing processes while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency. Working collaboratively with team members across the production floor, this role helps support daily manufacturing goals, maintain workflow, and deliver high-quality products to customers. Responsibilities And Duties

Component Preparation and Material Handling

  • Review build sheets, work orders, and assembly instructions to understand product specifications and assembly requirements.
  • Gather shafts, grips, club heads, ferrules, and other required materials for assigned builds.
  • Inspect materials and components for defects, damage, or inconsistencies prior to assembly.
  • Maintain organized workstations and ensure materials are properly staged for production.
  • Verify component accuracy before beginning assembly operations.

Assembly Operations

  • Perform shafting, gripping, and cutting operations according to documented work instructions and quality standards.
  • Assemble golf club components while ensuring proper alignment, fit, and adherence to build specifications.
  • Install grips using approved tools, materials, and techniques to ensure consistent results.
  • Cut and prepare shafts to required lengths and tolerances.
  • Assist with club head installation, ferrule preparation, and other assemblyrelated tasks as assigned.
  • Follow established production schedules and meet daily output expectations.

Tool and Equipment Operation

  • Safely operate hand tools and production equipment including sanding belts, grinding wheels, shaft cutoff saws, measuring devices, shaft vises, heat guns, propane torches, batterypowered torque drivers, and drills.
  • Utilize gripping and holding tools to secure components during assembly and alignment processes.
  • Perform basic equipment inspections before use and report any operational concerns.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in clean and functional condition.
  • Follow all equipment operating procedures and safety requirements.

Quality Assurance and Inspection

  • Conduct visual inspections throughout the assembly process to verify workmanship and product quality.
  • Confirm club specifications meet build sheet requirements including length, alignment, and component selection.
  • Identify and communicate quality concerns, damaged materials, or assembly discrepancies.
  • Support rework and corrective actions as directed by supervisors or quality personnel.
  • Maintain attention to detail to ensure a highquality finished product.

Production Support and Continuous Improvement

  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve production goals and customer delivery timelines.
  • Assist with inventory organization, material movement, and workstation preparation.
  • Support crosstraining opportunities within assembly operations as assigned.
  • Contribute ideas for improving efficiency, organization, and product quality.
  • Adapt to changing production priorities and departmental needs.

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to manufacturing standards, quality procedures, and documented work instructions.
  • Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or workplace hazards promptly.
  • Demonstrate safe material handling and equipment operation practices at all times.

General Duties

  • Support additional Production tasks as assigned.
  • Participate in training and skill development opportunities.
  • Assist with special projects, product launches, or process improvement initiatives when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills And Attributes

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical, vocational, manufacturing, or trade school training preferred but not required.
  • Completion of LAB101 and LAB201 certifications within the first 3 months is required.

Experience

  • Previous manufacturing, assembly, production, warehouse, or handson mechanical experience preferred.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, or measuring devices preferred.
  • Golf industry, club repair, club building, or sporting goods experience is a plus but not required.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to read and follow build sheets, work instructions, and production documentation.
  • Basic math and measurement skills, including the ability to accurately measure lengths and specifications.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to identify defects, inconsistencies, and assembly issues during production.
  • Basic computer skills for accessing production documents, work orders, and training materials.
