Summary
Our Project Manager will be directly responsible for the preparation, planning, execution, and close-out of complex planned/emergent outage events for hydro generators and large rotating equipment
agreements. The Project Manager is a key role with accountability for driving consistency and adoption of best practices and lessons learned. As a small business, we need a Project Manager who enjoys being hands-on and knows how to balance those demands with the responsibilities of leading team collaborations for successful project completion.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
● Manage complex outage events (Planned/Emergent/Upgrade) from start to finish, including
outage schedule development, TFA/craft labor/tooling/cost planning, pre/post outage meetings,
mobilization/demobilization planning, JCE execution, and event close out.
● Manage on job cost tracking and productivity metrics.
● Manage customer routine updates including status meetings and reports, plus escalation
management in collaboration with Sales and business leaders.
● Drive improvement of on-time delivery, outage cost and productivity, implementation,
effectively update and maintain accurate tracking files, control man hour cost and pacing.
● Lead project quotation development at proposal stages and post-contract award stages,
including work scope, site condition check, preliminary safety, and risk analysis to identify
potential issues or obstacles and to minimize cost impact for site execution.
● Ensure proper execution documentation is prepared, used, reviewed.
● Work with web systems applications for proper allocation, preparation, planning and forecasting
of labor, tooling, vendor management.
● Respond to forced outages/emergency promptly, be on site when needed, investigate/escalate
site issues to restore the units to operating conditions in a timely manner.
● Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field
assignments.
● Ability to travel occasionally to client sites and trade shows within North America; potential for
international client travel.
Experience & Skills
● Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
● 5+ years of experience in relevant Project Management roles.
● PMP or similar certifications is a plus.
● 4+ years of experience within industrial, utilities, or commercial construction industries. Power
and/or hydro-generator industry experience is a huge plus.
● Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management best practices and tools; emphasis on
effective scheduling, status tracking, and reporting (verbal, written, visual graphs, etc).
● Experience utilizing relevant software such as CRM, PM, ERP; some software configuration
experience preferred.
● General technical acumen and experience utilizing Google and Microsoft Suites, including Excel.
● Experience and comfort facilitating internal trainings and leading process/material
implementations.
● Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with clients and internal partners based
on understanding and trust.
● Exceptional communicator (written and verbally) with technical and non-technical audiences.
● Strong team leader in dynamic, complex customer site environments.
● Ability to work under high pressure and constraint time; committed and process oriented.
● Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously and effectively in a cross-functional team.
