JOB PURPOSE
The Raw Materials Management Manager, Outerwear will shape how Burberry sources, develops and optimises raw materials across our outerwear category. This role plays a pivotal part in balancing craft, innovation, sustainability and commercial performance. Working closely with design, sourcing, product and finance teams, you will translate creative ambition into robust, future‑ready raw material strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and deliver a raw materials strategy for outerwear that supports quality, sustainability, cost optimisation and business growth.
- Lead end‑to‑end supplier management, including selection, onboarding, performance management, risk mitigation and exit strategies.
- Partner cross‑functionally with design, sourcing, product development, planning and finance to align raw material choices with product vision and critical paths.
- Negotiate prices, lead times, capacity and minimums, ensuring transparency and resilience across the supplier base.
- Oversee budget planning, commodity risk management and excess material prevention to protect margin and reduce waste.
- Develop and support the team through clear direction, capability building and thoughtful talent planning.
PERSONAL PROFILE
- Proven experience managing raw materials within a luxury or premium fashion environment, ideally with a focus on outerwear or technical fabrics.
- Strong technical understanding of textile production processes and global supplier landscapes.
- A collaborative communicator who can influence, negotiate and build trusted partnerships across diverse stakeholders.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to balance creative ambition, operational rigour and financial outcomes.
- Comfortable working with data, systems and insights to inform decisions and improve performance.
- Organised, adaptable and calm under pressure, with a solution‑oriented approach to complex challenges.
