Position
Description:
A position has become available for a Sample Machinist at TFG Design Centre.
– complete a total sample garment according to quality standards and requirements.
– assemble the sample garment from beginning to end and pass it on to the finishers
– liaise with the pattern makers regarding garment construction and any pattern discrepancies or fabric problems
– collecting trims required for the sample garment
– carry out any other machining of finishing work as required by the Sample Room Manager
Key requirements:
– The ability to work accurately with a high attention to detail
– The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
– To be responsible, reliable and self-motivated
– Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team
– Must be able to understand (read) a pattern, sketch and information
– Must be able to sew all type of garments (eg. pants, tops, skirt, dress, jackets) and fabrics (eg. woven, knits)
– Must be able to operate all types of machines and know what they are used for (understand construction of garments)
– Must be able to solve problems by involving the relevant people
– Must have knowledge about quality standards of garments and that it is production friendly
– Must be punctual, driven and have good communication skills
– Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
