ATMTA is establishing a High Precision Training, Research, Development, and Production Center for the energy sector. We manufacture mission critical, precision engineered components for the oil and gas industry, built to perform under extreme pressure, temperature, and corrosion where failure is not an option, machined and tested to the highest precision and made intelligent with embedded sensing and AI.
We are hiring a Senior 5 Axis Mill-Turn Machinist, on site in Muscat, to run mill dominant 5 axis machining of complex prismatic components in production.
What you'll do: Set up, prove out, and run DMG MORI 5 axis machining centers that make complex prismatic parts true on every face.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and run 5 axis mill turn machining centers in production, primarily DMG MORI (DMU, DMC, monoBLOCK, duoBLOCK), and equivalents such as Mazak Variaxis, Hermle C series, or GROB
- Machine prismatic oil and gas components, valve bodies, wellhead blocks, and manifolds, from solid forgings and billets
- Machine corrosion resistant and high strength alloys to tight tolerance, with true bores, faces, and bolt patterns
- Program or edit 5 axis toolpaths at the machine, prove out, and optimize for cycle time and tool life
- Manage multi face setups and complex workholding for heavy, high value parts
- Hold position and form tolerances in microns, verify with CMM, and keep full traceability under API Q1 on parts qualified to API 6A and API 6D
- Work to ASME B16.34 and ASTM material requirements such as A182, with material certs and heat traceability
- Diagnose and solve machining problems, finish, deflection, tool wear, and thermal effects, and mentor apprentice machinists at the machine toward full qualification
What makes you a fit:
- You are a time served machinist who sets up, proves out, and runs 5 axis machining centers in production, not just operates them
- DMG MORI expertise is highly preferred; you are expert on DMG MORI machining centers (DMU or DMC) and at home on equivalents such as Mazak Variaxis or Hermle
- You machine complex prismatic parts in difficult alloys, true on every face and bore
- You program or edit 5 axis toolpaths at the machine, prove out, and optimize, and you know the DMG MORI control (CELOS or compatible)
- You handle complex multi face workholding for heavy components, and you verify with CMM
- You work to API and ASME requirements such as ASME B16.34, with full ASTM material traceability
- You enjoy passing your craft to apprentices on the floor
- You hold a machining apprenticeship or equivalent, with a strong precision track record
- Bonus points for oil and gas, valve bodies, or aerospace grade prismatic machining
- Fluency in English required
