We’re looking for journalists and creators who thrive in the urgency of news, are obsessed with great storytelling, and are passionate about producing compelling digital video that meets audiences where they are.

The Senior Producer, Video Editorial is a newsroom leader with deep expertise in digital video, breaking news, and visual storytelling. This role focuses on providing senior editorial oversight on scripts, edits, headlines, and packaging to ensure content is engaging, accurate, and aligned with CNN’s digital strategy, while also stepping in directly on coverage, production, and editing when needed during high-priority or breaking news moments.
The ideal candidate brings exceptional editorial judgment, a strong visual sensibility, and a track record of creating digital first video that resonates. You’ll cover major breaking news, explain complex stories with clarity and urgency, and develop original formats that stand out across platforms. You will also mentor and manage a team of producers and associate producers, helping elevate storytelling craft, editorial decision making, and production quality in a fast paced, collaborative newsroom.
Your Role Accountabilities…
* Lead creative development and editorial execution of digital video across platforms.
* Provide editorial leadership across scripts, visuals, pacing, and tone to ensure content is urgent, engaging, and built for digital audiences.
* Drive breaking news coverage and produce video storytelling that helps audiences quickly understand and connect with major stories.
* Lead projects end to end, balancing multiple priorities in a fast-moving newsroom.
* Manage and mentor producers and associate producers, elevating storytelling, editorial judgment, and production craft.
* Maintain high editorial and creative standards while encouraging experimentation in format, tone, and visual treatment.
* Review and approve scripts, edits, headlines, thumbnails, and descriptions, making strong editorial decisions aligned with CNN’s digital strategy.
* Proactively ideate and experiment to evolve storytelling approaches and visual treatments.
The Senior Producer, Video Editorial brings advanced editorial, creative, and technical expertise to the production of impactful digital video across CNN platforms and off platform channels. You excel in fast paced breaking news environments, collaborate seamlessly across teams, and consistently deliver high quality, visually compelling storytelling under tight deadlines. Flexibility with schedule and working hours is required.
Qualifications & Experience
* 8+ years of digital news experience in a national or major media environment.
