Role Description
This is a full‑time, on‑site Television News Reporter role based in Spokane, WA. The Television News Reporter will research, pitch, and develop story ideas that are relevant to local communities, including breaking news, enterprise stories, and follow‑ups. Daily responsibilities include gathering information, conducting interviews on camera and in the field, writing scripts for broadcast and digital platforms, and presenting stories in a clear, engaging manner.
The reporter will collaborate closely with producers, photographers, editors, and the assignment desk to plan coverage, meet deadlines, and ensure accurate, ethical reporting. Additional tasks may include live shots from the field, social media updates, and contributing content for the station’s website, streaming channels, and mobile app.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience or training in Television News and Broadcasting, with the ability to perform live shots and on‑camera presentations confidently.
- Strong foundation in Broadcast Journalism and Reporting, including interviewing, fact‑gathering, and source development.
- Proficiency in News Writing for broadcast and digital platforms, with clear, concise, and accurate storytelling under tight deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with newsroom teams, including producers, photographers, and editors, while adapting to a fast‑paced, changing news environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, sound editorial judgment, and commitment to journalistic ethics and accuracy.
- Familiarity with digital and social media tools for promoting stories and engaging audiences across platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as news requires.
