Job Scope

The Dana Impak – Transactions team leads the origination, evaluation, and execution of investment proposals, while supporting post-investment value creation and impact monitoring. This specific role focuses on driving investments within the Semiconductor & Advanced Manufacturing sector and Mid-Tier Companies.

You will lead and support deal teams, oversee rigorous financial and fundamental analysis, shape investment strategies, and actively manage senior stakeholder relationships across both the public and private sectors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Investment Strategy & Pipeline Development

  • Formulate Strategy: Support the development of overall investment strategies and tailored approaches for identified Dana Impak themes and sectors.
  • Deal Sourcing: Plan and execute sector- and theme-based coverage activities to drive active deal sourcing, pipeline building, and relationship development.
  • Thesis Building: Lead the creation of robust investment theses to identify high-potential catalytic investment opportunities.

2. Investment Evaluation & Execution

  • Deal Leadership: Lead and support end-to-end evaluation of investment proposals, ensuring comprehensive due diligence (commercial, financial, legal, and regulatory) is conducted.
  • Financial Excellence: Oversee complex financial modelling, valuation, and fundamental analysis to validate investment returns and strategic alignment.
  • Impact Collaboration: Partner with the Dana Impak – Value Creation and Impact Monitoring team to craft value-creation plans and impact theses for all proposals.
  • Risk & Structuring: Lead investment structuring, commercial negotiations, and the execution of legal transaction documents while robustly managing investment risks.
  • Investment Committee Preparation: Spearhead the preparation and presentation of high-quality investment proposal papers for senior leadership and committee approvals.

3. Post-Investment Monitoring & Value Creation

  • Portfolio Management: Support the Dana Impak – Value Creation and Impact Monitoring team in monitoring the performance of existing and new investments against value creation plans and impact targets.
  • Strategic Engagement: Actively engage with founders, business owners, and management teams of investee companies to address business challenges and execute value-creation plans.
  • Reporting: Review and oversee the preparation of monthly and quarterly investment management reports.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Ecosystem Building

  • Network Cultivation: Build, develop, and maintain a strategic network of relationships across corporate partners, advisors, regulatory bodies, and government intermediaries.
  • Sovereign Wealth Alignment: Collaborate with other Khazanah investment sector and geographic teams to share research, insights, and macro trends.

5. Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentorship: Train, guide, and mentor junior team members (Associates/Analysts) to foster a high-performing team culture.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive team process improvements, manage database accuracy, and contribute actively to yearly investment budgeting and capital allocation planning.

Job Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of work experience in a relevant financial discipline (Private Equity, Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, or Management Consulting) gained within private equity funds, institutional investment firms, investment banks, consulting firms, Big 4 accounting firms, or similar role within large corporates.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a Financial or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline.
  • Professional Certifications: CFA and/or CAIA charter holders will be highly preferred. Alternately, a proven track record in sophisticated quantitative and investment structuring analysis will be considered.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced financial modelling, corporate valuation, and investment structuring capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of direct private equity transactions, financial instruments, and legal concepts applicable to private equity settings.
  • Deep interest and ability to evaluate macroeconomic, regulatory, and industrial developments (particularly relating to manufacturing/tech sectors).

Soft Skills & Leadership:

  • Proven leadership traits with experience managing transaction workstreams and mentoring junior peers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to distill complex financial data into clear presentations.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, backed by an established professional network in Malaysia.
