About Us

Alfalfa Farm Cellars is a new, multi-faceted beverage destination in Topsfield, MA featuring a winery, distillery, brewery, and taproom experience.

We are building something thoughtful, high-quality, and grounded in both craft and hospitality—with a mix of estate-grown wines and carefully selected contracted production.

The Role

We’re hiring a Winemaker / Production Lead to take ownership of our entire wine program—from vineyard to bottle—while also supporting broader production efforts across the property.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • Estate vineyard coordination and harvest planning
  • Fruit sourcing and contract wine management
  • Fermentation, cellar work, and aging programs
  • Blending, stabilization, and bottling execution
  • Inventory and production planning
  • Compliance and recordkeeping (TTB, MA regulations)

Additionally, You Will

  • Support distillery production processes (non-distillation)
  • Assist in cross-functional production needs across winery, brewery, and distillery
  • Help establish systems, standards, and workflows from the ground up

What This Job Actually Is

  • Hands-on production work (this is not a desk job)
  • A small team environment where everyone contributes
  • A role that blends craft, operations, and problem solving
  • A chance to shape a wine program from day one

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in winemaking and cellar operations (New England experience a plus)
  • Strong understanding of fermentation, blending, and production techniques
  • Ability to manage both estate and contract wine programs
  • Comfortable working in a startup environment with shifting priorities
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and accountable
  • Willing to get your hands dirty—literally

Bonus If You Have

  • Experience with hybrid beverage operations (wine + spirits or beer)
  • Vineyard management familiarity
  • Experience setting up production systems from scratch

Compensation

Salary: $65,000 – $75,000, based on experience

Significant opportunity to grow with the business

Why This Role

This is a chance to be part of building something from the ground up—not stepping into an already-built system.

You’ll have real ownership, real impact, and the ability to shape both the product and the process.
