Role Description The Yacht Fairer role is a full-time, Day-to-day responsibilities include surface preparation of yacht exteriors and interiors, fairing and filling to achieve perfection, and working closely with paint teams to ensure optimal surfaces for high-end coatings. The role involves sanding, grinding, and shaping composite and metal structures, applying fairing compounds, and checking fairness with guides and templates. Yacht Fairers collaborate with supervisors and colleagues to meet project schedules, follow safety procedures, and maintain a clean, organised work area. The position requires attention to detail, consistent workmanship, and adherence to quality standards for superyacht finishes.
Qualifications
- Strong fairing and surface preparation skills, including sanding, filling, and shaping on composite and metal substrates.
- Experience working with marine coatings and paint systems, and understanding of how fairing supports high-quality finishes.
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions, drawings, and project specifications related to yacht structures and surfaces.
- Knowledge of safe use of hand tools, power tools, and materials, and commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practices.
- Previous experience in yacht, shipyard, marine, or automotive bodywork environments is highly beneficial.
- Good teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a multicultural environment and follow supervisory direction.
- High level of manual dexterity, physical stamina, and ability to work on scaffolding, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
- Willingness to learn new techniques, adapt to evolving processes, and maintain consistent quality within time and budget constraints.
- Basic English communication skills are an advantage; additional language abilities are welcome.
