As Senior Creative Director, you will own the creative vision and execution for Ka’Chava across DTC, Amazon, and retail. You will lead a lean internal team, including a small team of creatives, and serve as the point of contact with our external creative agency. You will set the creative bar, protect the brand, and push it forward simultaneously.
This is a high-visibility, high-impact role with direct influence on brand perception, customer acquisition, and retail presence. You will sit at the intersection of brand strategy, storytelling, and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Brand & Campaign Leadership
- Help build on, evolve, and champion Ka’Chava’s visual identity and brand voice across all consumer touchpoints — ensuring every piece of creative expresses our mission with clarity and conviction.
- Work with the wider team on the development of integrated brand campaigns from strategy and concept through production, including product launches, seasonal campaigns, and brand-building initiatives.
- Translate complex nutritional science and ingredient stories into accessible, emotionally resonant narratives that convert curious consumers into loyal advocates.
- Partner with marketing leadership to develop the creative strategy and ensure it evolves continuously as our business and channel goals expand.
- Build and maintain a comprehensive brand guide and creative standards that enable consistent execution across internal teams, agency partners, and retail partners.
Retail & Amazon Creative
- Own all creative for Ka’Chava’s retail presence, including product packaging, endcap displays, shelf-ready materials, FSIs, and retailer-specific co-op creative for partners such as Target and Costco.
- Lead the creative strategy and execution for Ka’Chava’s Amazon storefront, including A+ content, Brand Story, product detail page imagery, and sponsored brand creative.
- Develop and evolve packaging design as Ka’Chava scales into new retail doors, ensuring shelf standout while maintaining brand cohesion across the full product line.
- Partner closely with the eCommerce and retail sales teams to understand channel-specific performance data and translate insights into higher-converting creative.
- Stay current on Amazon best practices, retail creative standards, and competitor shelf presence to keep Ka’Chava consistently ahead.
Agency & Team Management
- Serve as the primary creative lead and day-to-day partner for Ka’Chava’s external creative agency, overseeing briefing, creative review, and output quality across all agency-led work.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop the internal creative team (currently a copywriter and art director), setting a high creative bar and fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and craft.
- Set review guidelines with the internal creative team that work in tandem with established production workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Marketing Operations and the PMO systems that drive creative execution — plug into established workflow infrastructure and help evolve it over time.
- Work hand-in-hand with the performance marketing team to develop and iterate on paid social, video, email, and display creative — using data and testing insights to continuously raise conversion rates.
- Collaborate with the product and innovation team to shape packaging and go-to-market creative for new product launches.
- Partner with the PR and social team to ensure editorial, influencer, and organic content is consistent with brand creative standards.
- Present creative strategy and work to senior leadership, making a clear and compelling case for creative decisions rooted in both brand intuition and commercial logic.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 10+ years of creative experience, including at least 5 years in a creative leadership or director-level role.
- A proven track record building or evolving a consumer brand — with a portfolio that demonstrates both big-picture brand thinking and executional excellence across multiple formats and channels.
- Deep experience with retail creative: packaging design, in-store materials, endcap and promotional displays, and retailer-specific co-op programs.
- Hands-on experience with Amazon creative strategy and execution, including A+ content, storefronts, product detail page optimization, and sponsored brand creative.
- Demonstrated experience managing and directing external creative agencies — you know how to brief well, review with precision, and get the best out of agency partners.
- Experience leading small, high-performing in-house creative teams with a copywriter and/or art director function.
- Strong understanding of DTC marketing channels — including paid social, email, and performance video — and how creative drives conversion.
- xceptional communication skills with the ability to present and defend creative vision clearly to both creative and non-creative stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Experience at a health, wellness, nutrition, or better-for-you food and beverage brand — you genuinely understand and connect with the audience.
- Background working at both a creative agency and an in-house brand (the combination gives you an edge in managing both worlds).
- Familiarity with Costco, Target, or other mass retail creative requirements and approval processes.
- Experience scaling a brand from predominantly DTC into retail and marketplace channels.
- Knowledge of UGC and creator-led content strategies and how they integrate with brand creative.
