Events and Community Expert Jobs in Sofia, Sofia City, Bulgaria at BESCO – The Bulgarian Entrepreneurial Association
Title: Events and Community Expert
Company: BESCO – The Bulgarian Entrepreneurial Association
Location: Sofia, Sofia City, Bulgaria
Who We Are
We are a collective of people who believe that change is in our own hands. We are proactive builders who strive for excellence while remaining humble and adaptable. United by a shared mission, we work to transform Bulgaria's economy and make the country a far better place to work, live, and prosper.
About the Organization
BESCO – the Bulgarian Entrepreneurial Association is an advocacy organization representing over 950 companies operating in almost 70 industries.
Our vision is to support the transformation of the Bulgarian economy towards knowledge-intensive, high value-added industries. Our mission is to achieve this by modernizing outdated legislation and advocating for progressive policies that shape a supportive environment for innovation-driven businesses.
About the Role
As our Events and Community Expert, you will be at the heart of how BESCO connects with its community. Your primary responsibility will be to plan, coordinate, and execute the events that bring together entrepreneurs, policymakers, and partners around BESCO's mission.
Your portfolio will range across formats and scales – from our intimate "Policy in the Bar" networking series, through conferences and workshops, to our flagship Hall of Fame – a premium, high-profile awards ceremony hosted at the National Theatre with around 1,000 attendees. You will also support our Community Development Representatives in their day-to-day work with members, helping the community stay active and grow.
We are upfront about one thing: events management is a demanding, hands-on craft, and the people who thrive in this role genuinely love it – the logistics puzzles, the speaker briefings, the on-site adrenaline, the post-event debrief. Past colleagues who joined us without having tested this work first ended up loving BESCO but realized events were not their calling. This time, we want someone who has already had a taste of event work and knows it lights them up.
What You'll Do
- Plan and execute the full range of BESCO events – networking gatherings like "Policy in the Bar", conferences, workshops, members-only formats, and our flagship Hall of Fame at the National Theatre
- Own all aspects of event delivery: budgeting, logistics, vendor coordination, and on-site execution
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop event content, agendas, and promotional strategies
- Coordinate with speakers, sponsors, and partners to ensure smooth participation and a great experience
- Manage event registration, attendee communication, and post-event follow-up
- Prepare pre- and post-event content to keep members and stakeholders engaged
- Monitor and evaluate event performance, suggesting improvements and new formats
- Maintain event databases, records, and reporting
- Support Community Development Representatives with member communications, requests, and day-to-day tasks
- Work with the team to design new event formats that help the BESCO community thrive
What You Need to Succeed
Extensive professional experience is not required – we will teach you the rest. What matters most is that you have already experienced event work in some form (internship, volunteer work, student organization, supporting role at events, freelance projects, or similar) and know it excites you. We are looking for the right mindset, qualities, and a real hunger for growth:
- Some prior hands-on exposure to event organization, in any setting – enough to know that this work energizes rather than drains you
- Excellent organizational and project management instincts – you naturally think in checklists, timelines, and contingencies
- Strong attention to detail – you notice the small things that make events feel polished, especially at the premium end
- Self-discipline and the ability to organize your own work without being micromanaged
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Bulgarian and English
- A people-oriented personality – you enjoy meeting new people and helping them feel welcome
- High motivation, resilience, and a genuine hunger for growth and learning
- An agile, proactive, and hands-on attitude suited to a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends when events require it
- Passion for entrepreneurship, innovation, and the broader mission of BESCO
- Comfort with everyday tools (Google Drive, Sheets, Discord) – or eagerness to learn them quickly
You Are a Great Fit If
- You have already had at least one experience working on events – and walked away wanting more
- You are motivated to grow and build a long-term path within an organization
- You have a naturally extroverted, people-oriented personality and enjoy bringing people together
- You have an interest, education, or early experience in event management, communications, entrepreneurship, business, advocacy, or public policy
- You strongly resonate with BESCO's values, mission, and culture and are looking for a meaningful, mission-driven role
- You are seeking a long-term commitment and are excited to grow together with a dynamic, impact-oriented organization
- You are based in Sofia – this is a hybrid role and the position does not include relocation support
What We Offer
In return, we offer the opportunity to join a highly motivated and mission-driven team, along with:
- Starting salary of approximately 1,675 EUR gross, plus performance-based bonuses
- Salary review possible at the 3rd and 6th month, plus annual performance appraisals
- Premium health insurance, including dental coverage
- Flexible working hours and hybrid setup (whole month of August fully remote)
- Multisport card
- Company MacBook
- 13th salary (performance-based)
- A vibrant work-hard/play-hard culture with frequent social events and team outings
- Direct access to founders, CEOs, and industry experts as partners and mentors
- Opportunities to participate in high-level networking and professional development events
- A chance to work within Bulgaria's leading policy-making and advocacy organization
