Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Toolmaker role based in Ahmedabad. The Toolmaker will be responsible for manufacturing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing moulds and dies used in plastic molding applications, ensuring high precision and close tolerances. Daily tasks include interpreting technical drawings and CAD models, setting up and operating CNC and conventional machines, performing measurements and quality checks, and documenting work in line with company standards. The role also involves collaborating with design and production teams to resolve tooling issues, improving existing mould designs, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in the tool room.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in toolmaking, including machining, fitting, and assembly of moulds and dies, with experience in close-tolerance work.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and CAD/CAM data, and working with CNC and conventional machining equipment.
- Competence in measurement, inspection, and quality control processes, using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Knowledge of materials used in mould manufacturing, heat treatment processes, and basic maintenance of tooling and machines.
- Relevant technical qualification, such as ITI/Diploma in Tool & Die Making, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a tool room or mould manufacturing environment, preferably in plastics or related industries.
- Ability to work safely, follow established procedures, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, adapt to updated CNC/CAD/CAM systems, and contribute to process improvements.
